April 16, 2009
7-9pm
Board Room, Queen Anne's County Board Of Education Building, Centreville
 Hunter H. Harris
Co-Sponsor: Corsica River Conservancy

Mr. Harris will present and discuss a series of aerial photographs that show the changes in the local landscape over the last 75 years.  These aerial views juxtapose the 1930's-1950's photography of H. Robins Holyday with more recent photography by Hunter H. Harris.  These photographs chronicle in a very unique way the history of Centreville and its surrounding area including the Corsica River and its watershed.  Mr. Harris will use a dual projection system to compare and contrast photographs from different periods to show changes in the local landscape as the area has developed.  The program is designed to be both educational and entertaining.

May 3, 2009
4-6pm
Historic Christ Church, 121 East Main Street, Stevenville
Mary Ann Jung, Actress
Returning to the Historical Society once again, Ms. Jung will entertain us as Margaret Brent (1601-1671), one-time resident of Kent Island and the first woman in America to ask for the right to vote.  She was outspoken and educated ñ something women were not supposed to be in the seventeenth century.  Meet this amazing colonist who was the first female landowner in Maryland, as well as the first woman lawyer.  Ms. Brent's lively account of her adventures in the wilderness is fleshed out by audience members who play Governor Leonard Calvert, the Piscataway Indians, and their chief.  Will the settlers and Native American become friends or enemies?  Only Margaret Brent can tell.
Ms. Jung researches and writes her own scripts and performs in the authentic costumes, accents, and attitudes for her characters' eras.  Her amazing portraits of famous ladies and their times encourage a love of history, drama, and literature in young and old alike.
